Critical Clearing Time Sensitivity for Differential-Algebraic Power System Model

Standard power systems are modeled using differential-algebraic equations (DAE). Following a transient event, voltage collapse can occur as bifurcation of the load flow solutions. This results from states' trajectories reaching singular surface where causality is lost. Preventive controls such changes in AVR setpoints need to be taken enhance stability. To determine which actions most effective, sensitivity critical clearing time controllable parameters exploited. work derives expressions for generic DAE model trajectory sensitivities. The illustrated multiple test that then validated against computationally intensive time-domain simulations.
